Compassionate Communication- Workshop May 15th 1-5 p.m.
Because our outer environment strongly reflects our inner state; when we are frustrated, tired or just really want things to be different than what they are, we can inadvertently shame or blame our children, partners, friends and even employees. This can create relationships that are then strained and armoured and intern then makes the connection and the safety that we want difficult; if not impossible.
Using the tool of Compassionate Communication we can learn to understand ourselves and the people in lives better. We can learn a different way to communicate; a way to understand each other; and we can find a way through tough and uncomfortable circumstances together.
Compassionate Communication offers us a new strategy/tool to help us meet our needs and meet the needs of others more effectively; it is a way to choose connection over conflict.
Using this tool:
We can build relationships based in cooperation and understanding
We take responsibility for our emotional reactions, choices, and how we treat and respond to others
We move away from judgement to see needs
We use our time and energy more efficiently and effectively to meet actual needs; not ones we assume exist
“Most of us grew up speaking a language that encourages us to label, compare, demand and pronounce judgements – rather than to be aware of what we are feeling and needing.”
“There are no problems, only unmet needs.”
~Dr. Marshall Rosenberg
